Excellent wine loaded with dark fruits, mainly cherries with some earthy notes. Very smooth start to finish. Thought it went better with the food than the other bigger wines we had that evening. Visited the winery about 20 years ago and had a fabulous tasting and tour there. At Anthony’s in HH.

Decanted 11/2 hrs.
Not especially huge nose, but earth, wood, chocolate, dark fruits.
On the palate I think you could say this is a dark, brooding Chianti, def barrique influenced. Not your bright, acid driven Chianti. On the cusp of BdM, the fruit and acids come to the fore against/with a good ragú. Very well crafted. I’d be happy with this again.
Thanks@WTSO

2015: Rich, generous CC Gran Selezione drinking very well now. I wouldn’t mistake it for the top Brunellos but good fruit and quality viscosity set it apart from the better Riservas. Touches of tar and leather give it a good dose of complexity. $45? At WL.
