Delicious 1999 savennieres with homemade butternut squash spaetzle.
So rich and textured, very little oxidation, not showing it’s age at all. Mouthcoating... plenty of honeycomb and some green apple and seashell. Continuing to evolve. Perfect pairing so far. Cheers!

Another beautiful Chenin drinking quite well. Loads of honey. Deep golden color. Hard to beat this for the money.

Jack & Arden put together a wonderful evening of delicious food and great wines, and a few of us attendees contributed some bottles to enjoy as well. Great night!
Served blind and probably the most difficult bottle to guess of the night. It was very honeyed up front, with orange blossom and apricot. Acidity was quite low. I ended up guessing Savenniere, but have to credit Dan for being the one to suggest it.

I would love to explore Savennieres deeper. This was a beautiful wine with age and at a great price at Pearl and Ash in NYC.

At Green Man and French Horn. Still tasting good but probably past its best. A bit hollow but still nutty and with an attractive honeycomb edge.

1999 - typically bronzed at 17 years old - nutty and dried fruit aromas - a little tint of botrytis honey makes it seem like it will sweet - but dry and lengthy taste. Great bargain @28 retail

Burnished gold. Walnuts, peanut skins and honeycomb. There's a bit of honeyed quince, but the palate is mostly dried out, though I've had other bottles that still showed more fruit. Austere but compelling in that old dry Chenin sort of way - geeky enjoyment, as opposed to the fleshier examples which have provided more pleasure.
N.B. This took at least two hours in the decanter to stir, on opening it seemed DOA.
