Domaine Faury
Côte-Rôtie Syrah
Great intensity. Could do with a couple more years.

Nov 18th, 2017Perfumed, fresh, lifted. Considerable finesse to this wine, elegant with light extract and focused on purity. Nose is spiced; potpourri, cracked green peppercorns, herbs de Provence, menthol, bayleaf, dried flower petals. The fruit is lacey and somewhat brambly. Palate is savory in its spice and mineral notes. The tannins are youthful but show great finesse for how young this is and the vintage.

May 3rd, 2017Tasted Blind. Pretty close, said Gigondas 2014. Such an understated style. Really pretty, I remember thinking "this is why I love Syrah". Blend of 2 vineyards, 20% whole cluster, 10% Viognier. Pure dark red fruit, white pepper and baking spice, clean, not funk driven. Good stuff

Dec 17th, 2016Superb Syrah that has an expansive floral nose overlaying a palette of bramble, spices, and earth. Enjoying with my wife at Trend Kitchen, expectantly waiting for the pork belly to arrive: a match made in heaven.
