Laurent works with hardly an acre of fruit from “Les Bussières”, a lieu-dit that borders M-S-D. We chilled this bottle in an ice bath just before serving and I think it was the right call. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of 90 minutes. The 2019 “Les Bussières” pours, a deep garnet color with a translucent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing and rest assured, not faking the funk on a nasty dunk: Bing cherry, horse blanket, cranberries, raspberries, dried red flowers, mushrooms, forest floor, a combination of cool and warm spices and limestone minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and funky fresh with lovely spices and minerality. Drink now with patience; better after 2029 and through 2039.
