Exceptional. Length, power, toasted almond stone fruit brioche lemon curd. Could have passed for ten years younger.

This is wonderful. Very pure. Slightly exotic but very precise. All kinds of lovely fruit and great length. Wow.

This was one of two Burgundies. The first was a red from the 1970s that Cara and I had been given a few weeks ago because the label had long fallen off and its identity was a mystery. Slowly and carefully I opened the bottle and withdrew the cork. The cork said simply, "mis en bouteille la propriete" and "1976". Whatever this wine, it was floral and slightly bitter and very thin, with little in the way of structure. Apparently this is typical of the vintage. This was a fun roll of the Old Wine Dice and a delightful surprise that the bottle was perfectly drinkable.

The better Burgundy was this 2000 Faiveley Batard-Montrachet that had aged beautifully and had a stunning purity that elevated tropical and slightly oxidized elements. I don't often get to drink decent White Burgundy and so this was a real treat.

It's been many years since an older Leflaive has actually impressed me, between mediocre vintages, major premature oxidization, flabbiness, non-intergrated oak handling, just all-round letdowns, especially for the price. This ones surprisingly a really great example of aged GC Burgundy, beautiful oak intergration, classic spent coffee grinds I get on older French whites, a great bottle.

Leflaive wines are always on my wish list and this 2000 was still amazingly fresh, almost flinty and had just enough toastiness to pair perfectly with white truffles:-)

激ウマには違いないが、1999の方がやや優勢!
ちなみに、1999、2000共に同じ店で飲みました。
