Blinded, FK was quick to identify this as a white Burgundy from a ripe vintage (2005?), which I felt was a good guess given the propensity of this vineyard to be a touch warm. Definitely looked a lot younger than it was, which is a testament to MJ’s cellar. An absolutely pristine bottle of Leflaive! Lot of apple skins, lemon peels, white flowers, and a touch of nuttiness. Full-bodied with a rich creamy texture, balanced by strong minerality and crisp acidity. This was Leflaive in all it’s glory!

Medium gold color. Sweet nose. Notes of apricot, quince, kiwi, fig and white peach. Rich and impactful in the mouth. Sneaky acidity. With air the wine exhibits more mineral notes and the Leflaive petrol type thing I love. Good stuff.

Medium gold color. Enticing nose. Notes of Meyer lemon, allspice, white stones and white acacia flowers. Rich with lots of fruit and big structure. Acidity is powerful but in balance. Gave this 3 hours of air and it benefitted from the aeration. Some petrol and mineral notes show up later in the night. Great showing.

Medium gold. Medium weight. Notes of lemon, apricot, earth, stones and white acacia flowers. Rich fruit in the mouth. Silky. Fine grained acidity. Feminine and delicate. Sweet fruit dominates this story.

Med gold. Sweet fruity nose. Notes of sweet kiwi, some apricot, wet stone, a little gravel and tan spice. Very rich in the mouth. Acidity and structure soft at first but power up after 3 hours. This was ok. I expected more tho.

Canary gold color. Appropriate color for its age. Quiet nose, quiet in the mouth - even with a few hours of air. Something was not quite right with this bottle as it came across as subdued and light on acidity. It got a little better with air and showed some light aged white burg funk, but not as good as recent bottles. Maybe not well-stored at some point in its life.

Incredibly fresh for its age, linear, gun flint, lemon curd, lots of minerals, wild honey.

Yellow gold. Heavy in the glass. Rich nose. Notes of white flowers, apricot, pineapple, river rocks, white spice, earth and a little vanilla. Palate coating in the mouth. Acidity in the background, fruit up front. Long finish. Really good, but had that something missing to call it great.

A good looking bottle from auction with a good fill. Medium gold color. Medium weight in the glass. Subdued nose at first but with air this develops strong notes of apricot, ripe peach, honeysuckle and lemon. In the mouth, after pop and pour it's very quiet but rich. With air though the acidity and structure develops. Early on one might make the argument that this bottle was a little advanced. I instead would venture to say this is very nice at age 20+, but will not necessarily get much better.
