Domaine Romaneaux-Destezet (Hervé Souhaut)
La Souteronne Vin de Pays de l'Ardèche Gamay
Pungent nose has a bit of barnyard and bigly tangy berry fruit. Some high-toned crumbly rock too. Lively and vigorous in the mouth, with the tangy element and crisp acids dominant. Nice with a garlicky grilled chicken warm pasta salad.

Feb 18th, 2020I like a bit of brett but this had WAY too much. It covered up all the other flavors.

Oct 6th, 2018Definitely its own animal. Has a ton of tannic/mineral structure but also lots of fresh, light, tart fruit. Nails that iris-y floral/vegetal Gamay thing, while still leaning towards olive/meatiness. And it all works. This may evolve, but my instincts are that this is a vintage for right now, when it's full of electric energy and all the parts are vibrating and tense and begging for your attention.
