The 2016 Duckhorn ‘Three Palms Vineyard’ is another stellar release by the talented Renee Ary. Aged in 100% new French oak for eighteen months, the Merlot has 6% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Malbec blended in. The nose exudes class with ripe chocolate covered bing cherry and shades of sweet pipe tobacco that mingle with the dusty terroir tones on the nose. The palate is plush, giving an err of decadence. The silky mouthfeel really gives a feel of opulence. Black Forest cake and dark licorice flavors collide with the dusty minerals and cigar box flavors. Simply outstanding in its youth following a one hour decant, this stunning Merlot will cellar well for decades. Drink 2020-2040- 94

Definitely new world, but with a gentle restraint. Crowd pleaser to suite newcomers to wine as well as more serious merlot lovers. Well worth the wait.

USA:s första vingårdsbetecknade merlot. Denna årgång med en liten del Cabernet Sauvignon och Malbec. Fyllig med solmogen mörk frukt. Lätt balsamisk. 75% nya fat i 16 mån ger en rik fatprofil. Blockchoklad, kardemumma, lavendel, mynta, vanilj. Tanninerna är bortsmälta. För att vara ett vingårdsvin är det kanske mer vinmakningen som lyser igenom. Men god nu, en klassiker!

A classic. Powdered cocoa, a bright almost lemony note, and deep fruit notes. Perfectly balanced on the palate, warm and unctuous. Better, I think, than it showed a year or two ago. In my father's memory (his favorite bottle). Bottle #2 in FL.

Dark ruby coloration. On the nose, tart cherry, tobacco, smoke and florals. On the palate, cherry, plum, earth, vanilla and chocolate. Full bodied, great balance, rich, lush mouthfeel. Long finish of chocolate.
