This is the Merlot, and I haven’t had a Merlot from northeast Italy for literally decades. So I’m surprised I like this one so much. Big nose with lots going on. Tobacco, ripe black cherry, deep green herbal scents, turned gravel, warm brick. In the mouth it’s got deep flavors, with plummy fruit and cigar box leading, followed by dark cracked stones. Medium acids. The tannins is resolving but a little tacky, in a pleasant way. Kind of sultry overall. Amazing value.
