Dunn Vineyards
Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Opened several hours prior and decanted off sediment and a portion of the cork that had broke and crumbled before returning to the bottle. The 2007 “Howell Mountain” pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core and very slight rim variation. On the nose, the wine is developing with gorgeous notes of dark fruit: black currants, blackberries, tobacco, leather, earth and gentle spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and savory. This is firing on all cylinders right now and the structure suggests the power of the 2007 vintage is not slowing down anytime soon. Drink now with a decant and through 2037 with ease.

Sep 29th, 2024Magnificent, in the perfect dinking window. Cherry, chocolate, leather. One of the best wines of the year for me for sure.

Nov 3rd, 2019Monthly guys group wine meet-up. No theme tonight aside from “it better be good”.
Bordeaux, bordeaux, Bordeaux. Dusted cocoa leaves, stewed blackberries. Hint of cranberries. Spices on the palate with fresh squeezed blackberries. Touch of leather on the finish with some pepper. Head strong through 2+hrs of being open. Napa royalty.

Nov 7th, 2017Cheers from Bergen, Norway! An absolute picturesque spot for our vacation. Tonight, we visited Altona, a 400-yr old spot that has received 9 straight Wine Spectator awards for their phenomenal wine list.
I was shocked to see such a prestigious US wine on this wine list, and had to order a glass from this textbook vintage. Red currants on the nose and cigar box. Deep purple and long legs. On the palate, beautifully structured plum and cassis. This wine is GORGEOUS right now and has at least 10+ years before really peaking.

Opened up and let it breathe for 1 hour! Served it immediately after the Phelps Insignia 2001. Huge full bodied Cab, with dark black fruit. Tannins were still big but you could really feel the gorgeous fruit and structure of the wine! Very Impressive. Thanks Dr A for giving it to me. Served with 8 people at Il Villagio in Cherry Hill NJ. CB rated 97+
