Dunn Vineyards
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Good wine but I could use a little less wood on the frame.

Oct 10th, 2016I know these wines well and even for Dunn Napa, this wine is very light in its structure and mid palate. I love these wines with a bit more age on them. I feel like this is in an awkward in between stage. Softer than a young wine, but still too fruit focused to appreciate the nuances and lean finish that makes these wines brilliant. Hold it!

Dec 14th, 2015Initially gives off aromas of burning horse stable. This blows over after an hour or so the fruit comes to the forefront. Supple red and black fruits and grilled herbs. This continues to evolve into focus, more fresh black fruit and asphalt, with fine tannins and seamless length.

Jan 1st, 20151hr+ decant, but not sure it needed it. Very dark purple color with very subtle brown edges. Wine was fairly fruit forward with jam, licorice, and plum on the finish. Not as deep as I was expected and became stringy after a few hours. I agree with the other comments about the sediment. Totally different than my last bottle.

Dec 23rd, 2023Back to American wines! Our first bottle back in the US!
This absolutely rocked! 1hr+ decant. Purple color. Phenomenal nose of tar, graphite, and dark fruits. Blackberries and a little cedar dominate the palate. Wine is massive but elegant. Medium plus finish. This has many years ahead of it. Reminds me why I am a huge Dunn fan!

Would have pegged as 10yo Pauillac. Dark blue and black fruits wrapped in dark chocolate. Surprisingly austere and linear. Really good.

Jun 28th, 2020Dark purple color starting to turn a garnet color. Black/dried fruit on the nose. Tannins are very subtle with black cherry and cedar on palate. Perfect for cheese or lighter meals.
