E. Guigal
Condrieu Viognier
Loving the intensity and concentration of this wine! Notes of ripe stone fruits (pear, nectarine, peaches) candy ginger and star jasmine flowers. The palate shows a rich full bodied wine with notes of ginger, stone fruit, star jasmine and a touch of wet stone. Big and rich with enough acidity to keep it honest.

7 people found it helpfulOct 22nd, 2014Condrieu is the AOC of Viognier , it is located in the Northern Rhone. Guigal is the king producer of Rhone and his condrieu is a great show case of this AOC. The wine has a gold color, nose is floral, full of tropical fruits, guava and a touch of mineral, full body, rich and creamy with a pleasant bitter acidity, long fresh finish. I am not a big fan of this variety but it is well done, my score 87, drink to 2018

Oct 15th, 2014There is firstly apricot first and foremost. But then there are white flowers, a bit of lemon (?!) and honey and almost a petrol thing like you find in some riesling. Wow! And what a palate! It sweet, it's round, there is almost tannins in mid palate, you can have that apricot taste but the mouthfeel is almost the one of an apricot skin. 🤯🤯🤯. The finish is everlasting. These apricot notes, that dryness which could almost be tannins and it expands a little in the very end with almost a medicinal, herbal thing. Wow that's a great tasting experience.

Oct 2nd, 2020Clear bright, medium yellow, no rim. Medium viscosity, no gas or sediment. Delicate nose of caramel and unripe pear, bitter almond, white flowers, gardenia, honeysuckle. Butternut squash. Slightly tropical on the palate with spice, pepper, malolactic, and vegetal notes. Slight oak. Medium body, medium acid and complexity. Well integrated and fresh on the palate.

Feb 2nd, 2016Light to medium yellow, smells of Brie cheese, apricot, pineapple, white flower, and anise, medium body, tastes of glycerin, slightly petro, yellow plum, and honey, mildly spicy, delicate round mouthfeel, clean finish with a grassy undertone, delicious.
