La Turque Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2016

Definitely the most expressive young vintage I’ve had of a La La. Very giving already. Was a perfect pairing for lamb. — 8 days ago

La Mouline Côte-Rôtie Syrah 1989

Pure and resolved. Great fruit- rounded with blood, dried herbs, plum, tangy black cherry. Some stone, saddle leather. Very good. — a month ago

Monprivato di Castiglione Falletto Barolo Nebbiolo 2004

La Landonne Côte-Rotie Syrah 2001

2001: so silky! A wine that has so much complexity and the smoky meatiness and mint was so intriguing! Just wow! — 7 hours ago

Ex Voto Ermitage Blanc Marsanne Roussanne 2013

90% Marsanne and 10% Roussanne, aged 30 months in new oak. Some will say this is over the hill, others will say it needs hours of air. It’s undeniably an eclectic and intriguing wine. Honey and toasted nuts. Rich and full with an unctuous sherry finish. Paired with chicken liver mousse. — 2 months ago

I’m sure I’d be in the “over the hill” camp. I personally struggle to enjoy wines where I can perceive oxidative notes, even in wines where they’re supposed to be there (I would place Hermitage Blanc in the “not supposed to be there”camp.)
