At 35 years this CF VdG is really showing well — 20 days ago
Fully mature and one of the better 93s I’ve tasted. One of the earlier vintages after Roagna bought La Roca e la Pira vineyards in Barolo, extending beyond their base in Barbaresco. The cork on this wine still has the imprint of Roagna Barbaresco, so the transition to Castiglione Falletto was still underway. Really wonderful wine with classic tertiary notes of tobacco, leather, smoke, and dark berry fruit. Tannins fully resolved. Good balance and depth. Time to drink up for sure, but very enjoyable. — 2 months ago
2020 is a terrific vintage for early drinking. And Sandri is such a wonderful winemaker. Visits with him are never less than three hours of intense discussion and sampling of all of his botte. He’s very generous and it shows in his wines. Great. — 5 days ago

Though oak is a bit too prominent this is a wonderful showing for the 99. At peak I’d say. Dense fruit, depth, balance, finish with terrific tertiary notes of classic tar, smoke, leather. Excellent. — 10 days ago

Uber traditional, heavy bricking, fully mature now and maybe even a bit on the decline (storage before I bought it?), but this is such a classic example of aged Nebbiolo. All sous bois, leather, wood smoke, tar, and fruit that is surprisingly soft. Roddolo is not widely available in the US but deserves to be better known. — 3 days ago
