Enderle & Moll
Baden Spätburgunder Rosé
So...I had a birthday a couple weeks back and due to scheduling, my regular bottle finishing team wasn't available until now, so we're finally doing it up in my grand, unique style.
Notes possibly tomorrow, scores honestly tonight.
Decanted 6H.
24-Hour Update:
Nose has wet violets, ripe black cherry, crushed raspberries, sweet (roasted) red pepper, blueberry jam, wet gravel and fresh cherries.
Palate has ripe cherry, wet cedar, raspberry fruit leather, dried strawberry, dilute blackcurrant juice and dry sandstone.
Upgraded from 91 to 93 points, doing fantastic at +24H.

I’m not one who’s usually for ageing rose, but this is an exception. It’s really got the backbone of a red. The color is not as vivid as it was a few years ago but the nose is great: ripe cherry, smashed musky flowers, a little wet gravel. In the mouth, it’s intense, with rich cherry fruit and lots of long, savory cling. Remarkable length. Good, but not high acids. This would be a great choice with many Chinese stir fries.
NOTE: make sure you let the sediment (there is a lot) settle out and then carefully decant this, unless you’re ok with cloudy wine.

Second bottle from a six pack. Interestingly enough, picking up some wood on the palate tonight, but that does not detract from the oh so jammy qualities. Bright fruits and flowers, oh so complicated and structured, but so easy to drink. This is a long haul Rosé, easily forgotten about in the corner of your cellar, like and old friend, always happy to greet you no matter how long you've been apart.
I've had domestic (US) pinot's that don't ever come close to the amazing color or quality of this Rosé, from Baden, Germany. WOTN every time, and tonight was the total crowd favorite. If I had $1 for each time someone said they'd never seen red wine from Germany and that this tastes like something otherworldly, I could be buying this stuff by the pallet and be a very happy man.

There is no rose like this anywhere. It’s more flavorful than most Pinot Noirs, but, unlike them, a chill does not mute the nose or the flavors. It’s 5 years old for Pete’s sake, and still does not seem anywhere close to tired. Intensely fruity, but with some nice minerality and good acids. Ridiculous.

Color is cloudy, tawny garnet.
Nose has Maraschino cherry juice, violet, red rose and crushed red raspberry.
Palate has strawberry mash, red apple skin, creamy wood notes (almost like fresh whipped cream without sugar), grapefruit level acidity and a never giving up finish.
This wine, it's still too young but damn it's enjoyable!
Medium amounts of sediment in this bottle when decanted carefully, yet still lightly cloudy on the double decant for service this afternoon. Part of an epic E&M based afternoon plan as we sit by the chimnea on a beautiful early Spring day. The Gold Finches, Pine Siskins and Junco's are providing quite a background chorus.

Beautiful nose, you'd almost think it was the Muschelkalk Pinot. Each time we drink this, I wonder how this wine can be so crazy delicious? My hope is no one really reads this and buys this wine, we want it all for ourselves. Can't wait to try the '16!

May 19th, 2017Best rose I’ve had in years! What a great bottle. Wasn’t anywhere close to this 2 years ago.

Jul 4th, 2020Serious Rose. Has a wild element. Fresh strawberry. A ton going no on.

Aug 27th, 2017Much more civilized than the 2014. Usually THE best Rose of the year and this one does not disappoint. 20$ are insane for this. A touch of Quince and bitterness which i love.
Forest floor and wild strawberries 🍓. I bought it by the case and even my wife likes it!
