I enjoy Merlot more as a blending component than a single varietal expression but you can’t go wrong with 100% merlot Petrolo’s (especially with age on them).

Young and mighty. Charred and soy sauce tinge bright red fruit in an upright tannic jacket. Great to be greater.

100% merlot but blend 10% Sangiovese in this vintage. Black current, vanilla, spices and savoury on the nose. Medium intensity & acidity, long stand. Very smooth after decanted. Easy drinking wine!

Aug 23rd, 2013Loved the wine. Wine looks like raspberry jam in a glass. Crushed raspberries in the nose and taste. Very powerful fruit that lasts. Not much tannin or oak. Every sip I look forward to the next.
