41/41/18 GSM blend. Moderately extracted pigment, purple-red. Butter, raspberry and blackberry notes in nose with undertone of eucalyptus. Black currant, blackberry and under-ripe cherry flavors, some seed bitterness, moderate chewy tannins and skin astringency. Needs time to open. After 30 minutes, tannins resolve into fine-grained weight; wine is much more approachable. Good length of flavors, wood-forward spice in aftertaste with a hint of black licorice, sophisticated tannin structure. Well made, but not a style everyone will like. Not easy to find either, but I’m glad I tried it.
