Frank Cornelissen
Munjebel (Classico) Rosso Nerello Mascalese
What Tom said. Same issue with the 2012. Only VA and Tannin. No fruit. Maybe it's past it's drinking window, but I've had other vintages of Munjebel that didn't show anything like this. Not sure what happened but avoid this vintage, sadly. Sorry Frank.

Sep 9th, 2018I have had 2 other vintages of this wine across even more bottles and loved them, but the 9 (2012) is a VA (volatile acidity) mess. Completely out out balance this is like a port wine missing the luscious fruit. I don't normally bag a wine but Frank if your reading this what were you thinking about the expression of the vine when you were raising the fruit and making the wine for this vintage. This is the single worst wine I have had all year based on my expectations of pedigree. #munjebel #cornelissen #mtetna #garagiste

Tasted this with Frank Cornelissen at Cave Ox in Solicchiata, Etna Nord. Fresh lively Etna terroir.

Aug 26th, 2013Funky, cool, off the beaten path wine. Nerello Mascalese grown on the slopes of Mount Etna, an active volcano on the island of Sicily. By the cult winemaker - Frank Cornelissen. This is a wine to make any wine geek happy. Expressive mountain flowers, herbs, juniper, wild strawberry, and raspberry. Rough, scratchy tannins, deep flavor, sharp up spike of acidity, and a long finish. Almost "zippy" on the palette.
