2014, The beauty of Greek wines is the history of the local varieties. THALASSITIS is produced from Santorini’s white grape variety, Assyrtiko. The wine label is linked to the old practice of mixing wine with sea water, to create the “Thalassitis Oenos” (sea-wine). This one is not mixed with sea water ;-), it comes from 80 y old vineyards in Episkopi, Akrotiri and Pyrgos regions. Straw color, nose lightly deducted with pears and summer fruits, medium body, crisp acidity, short acid finish. My score 82. Drink now

Really nice, a lot like a Sauvignon Blanc but just a tad sweeter. Worked well with salmon pasta and grilled shrimp.

Mineral with some ripe apple and pear. Medium bodied, but nice balance and length. Very nice. 2013 is not for long cellaring now, can best be consumed now.

Grèce, Thalassitis 2014, Santorini. Tellement minéral et crayeux que sur le coup, j’ai cru qu’ils avaient enterrés des futs badigeonnés de plâtre. Il s’avère que c’est sans bois, et que ma bouche m’a roulé dans la chaux. C’est particulier, mais assez chouette, au final.
