This is a fine Barolo, but it’s Gaja and I was underwhelmed.

Nose was shy initially but after 2 hours it finally opens up with sour cherry, strawberry, eucalyptus, and light tobacco. The palate is warm and smooth, but the fruits lack the concentration and at times feels a bit disjointed. ‘18 is a challenging vintage for Barolo after all.
