Gaja
Pieve Santa Restituta Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese
Gaja did not produce their Rennina or Sugarille in 2012 due to a change in their oak program, so all of that fruit went into their Pieve Santa Restituta.
.
A minimum of an hour open is needed to give it the room necessary to stretch out and reveal the depth of its complexity. Black cherry, rose petal, tobacco, leather, clay pot, walnut, citrus peel, and earth, with some secondary truffle and fig nuances that both elevate the wine and remind you that you’re drinking Gaja. Excellent.

Jun 8th, 2018I always love this wine. Medium bodied, red berry, mountain herb, elegant. Very beautiful easy drinking Brunello, if there was any such thing.

Oct 10th, 2017NYE 2018! Happy new year! Decanted for a hour. Cherry, raspberry, cigar tobacco, and earth. Very good now but even better in a few more years. Tannins are still prominent at first.

Dec 31st, 2018Not my style of Brunello - not that I drink much Brunello. Was kinda blinded this wine (the bottles shown, but wines unknown). An easy guess even though this was my first time having this wine due to my experience with Gaja.
Monstrous wine - fruit profile, oak, alcohol. Soft and round. It's still an excellent wine regardless. Quite balanced. Silky and pretty elegant texture. Mineral with air.
