This is a great experience of drinking a 34 year old Barolo.

Showing black fruits with earth, forest floor, vinaigrette, forest floor, green vegetables, light wood, graphite, spices and peppercorn.

Nice finish with spices, grippy tannins and tangy cranberries.

Right out of the bottle, it is big and elegant with grippy tannins. As it opens up, it losses some fruit, but still drinkable. The drinking window is very short (about 20 minutes).

In September 2007 (that's 22 years after picking the grapes), this bottle was decanted by the producer, to remove the sediments, and then topped off again with wine from the same 1985 vintage, and recocked again with a new cork.
So special, isn't it?

Showing great complexity and a unique mouthfeel.

Thank you, Keith for sharing.

I paired it with cheeses and light appetizers.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

88 Points.

1985: Rich texture on palette. Very good condition, also presented at Quince during white truffle dinner. Paired well with truffle lathered over risotto. Still on the ascent, showing with some force while balanced. This would be a vintage to pick up and enjoy, or to put away for later. Hints of licorice with solid presence of sweet cherry fruit.

Solid juice. Touch of iron. Needs to open.

Took a bit longer that usual to open, had a subtly flavor and light fruit, very feminine style and well balanced.
