Tar and a hint of sherry, gorgeous deep fruit. I’m told this bottle isn’t what it should be, but it’s pretty damned good. Lovely deep soulful fruit black pepper, orange rind and a pretty black cherry sweetness.

Tasted blind. Pale garnet in color, the nose reveals gentle hints of dried figs, crushed flowers, dates, forest floor, mushroom and white truffle. Full-bodied, the palate is defined by sandpaper-like tannins, good fruit concentration and lively acidity. The wine is delicate and interesting, but it somehow lacks precision and depth, preventing a higher score. Drink now.
