Dark blue and black fruits prominent on the nose and palate, with additional rich and toasty aromas, dark cocoa powder. Balanced acid, tannins and minerals on the palate in a soft body with teeth coating chalky minerals that linger on and on.

Wowza, this really over-delivered for $20: inky no sign of age on rim, effusive dark fruit, brooding ripe black & blue berried mingled with spices, cocoa, dried herbs, minerals, hoisin - blind I would have guessed Mourvèdre from Southern France. Great extract & density of flavors on nose & mid palate, cut a broad swath, smooth rich, finely grained tannins balanced seamlessly. Bit less acidity than Mencia from Bierzo, but enough for the smoked ribs devoured alongside this gem.
