Haras de Pirque
Character Cabernet Sauvignon Carménère
#AgedWineTuesday
Dark inky in color with a short reddish rim. Not showing age at all.
Strong nose of blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, vegetables, cloves, herbs, bell pepper, peppercorn, spices, dark chocolates and cola.
Full bodied, bold and extracted, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, sweet cherries, raisins, vanilla, oak, licorice, spices, vegetables, bitter herbs, graphite, chocolates, earth and pencil lead.
Medium minus on the finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 12 year old Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon blend is very enjoyable. Drinking very nicely now with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel.
Right out of the bottle, it is a very earthy with lots of green vegetable notes, smells like a garden. Once it opens up, it is so much better.
Needs 90 minutes to open up properly and remove much of the vegetable notes.
Good by itself or with food. I paired it with 3 different Brie cheeses. Big and bold, rich and extracted.
A blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Carmenere, 6% Cabernet Franc and 5% Syrah.
14.8% alcohol by volume.
91 points.
$30.

Always a nice surprise on this one, nice peppery and okay flavors ...
Lots of black fruits and a medium body.
Remind me of a cab franc very earthy.

No clue where we got it. 2008 vintage. Excellent with green spaghetti. Zesty, spicy and delicious. Would definitely drink again!

Right away, booming awesome greenness on the nose. It's a good start.
However, not a ton else going for it. Palate is green too, but he fruit is weak. Not "rounded", weak bitter tannins. Mid-palate and finish are absent. Nose to palate was a disappointment. Still ok for the nose.
Day two: minerality and blood came out and were more pronounced.
