RED Blaufränkisch Blend
Reminiscent of the funk and lively acidity of fine Beaujolais.

Feb 19th, 2017Ruby in color with a wide red/purple rim.
Light nose of blueberries, cherries, red currants, licorice, flowers, citrus, tar, earth, dirt, wet stones, light oak, black pepper, spices and light chocolates.
Medium bodied with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry on the palate with plums, cherries, pomegranates, earth, leather, pencil lead and peppercorn.
Tart finish with no tannins and tart cherries.
A nice red wine from Austria.
Easy drinking and simple. Good right out of the bottle and better to drink it sooner than later, as it becomes sour as it opens up. Not one for aging. Much better with food.
I paired it with cheeses and light appetizers.
A blend of 50% Zweigelt, 40% Blaufrankisch and 10% Sankt Laurent .
12.5% alcohol by volume.
