Trailside Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Second day in Napa. Again at Zuzu, one of my favorite restaurants in downtown Napa. Fresh from Heitz Cellar. Very closed nose at the beginning, but after one hour, it totally blossoms. Restrained ripe black fruits, suis bois, sweet cinnamon, black pepper, hint of shiitake mushrooms and tons of herbs. Wonderful structure, medium body, still very very young. Partly resolved tannin, bone dry. This is so balanced and it is a killer for old world wine lovers like me. 14.5% alc. 2005 vintage

Hitting its stride...an aged cab that's easy to love. The bone-in ribeye didn't hurt, either.

Still a baby... Showing well, but needs a lot more time.

Beautiful bottle for a 5th Anniversary celebration. Paired nicely with the bone in ribeye.

2005 on March27, 2016. Excellent with beef tenderloin! And family!

Chewy. Some earthiness and tobacco. Big black fruit. Needs some time. A few years.

Haven't had a Trailside since the 1997 that made such an impression. Black cherries. Rich and silky. Big. Great legs!
