I love the Portuguese. Upon first pour, the wine captivates with its deep ruby color, hinting at the complexity and depth within. The nose is immediately greeted with an intoxicating bouquet of dark fruits—ripe blackberries, plums, and cherries—interwoven with subtle notes of vanilla, spice, and a whisper of oak.

This is the Esporao Reserva. Lovely. Similar to Rioja, but the 20% Cabernet Sauvignon shifts the wine’s trajectory. Persistent on the finish.

The 2019 vintage is terrific. Transcends all other vintages of recent years (2017-2021). If you still can get your hands on a 2019 bottle, simply buy and enjoy it. Portuguese Alentejano branco wine at its (affordable) top. Expresses the typicity of the region and grape varieties very well. Balanced, structured, citrus-fruity and pleasantly acid wine, asking for more.
