Clear, clean & surprisingly bright & purple with a touch of ruby red color for a wine this age. Loved the raw animal aromas that surround wild cherry & plum notes with a touch of rose petal. Cherry, earthy, somewhat reduced sulphur flavors. Rustic & classic. Not a mind blower, but traditional.

Outstanding top level Chianti, deep garnet in colour, pronounced on the nose and palate, probably fully developed as limited fruit there. There are lots of tertiary aromas though, tons of animal/ farmyard flavour (borderline brettanomyces), and some wet leaves. The palate opens up to a little red currant, smoke and toast. This is high acid, tannins, alcohol, body -- the works!

I don't drink Chianti very often, but this wine could change my ways. Earthy and masculine on the nose. Medium tannins and oak. Nicely balanced.

Deep rich flavor. Blackberries and leather. A bit acidic and tannic. Bold, but not wonderful.
