Inglenook
Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon
An icon in Napa, and for good reason. Classic old-skool Napa style. Well mannered, subtle with an easy going temperament, almost backward. Notes of coffee, cinnamon and cherry play of moderate tannins. Acidity is perfectly balanced. No rush at all to consume these. Respect…

Apr 1st, 2024A strong showing, which requires bottle age. First time trying this producer. Nose is structured with notes of mushrooms, moss and coffee.
Tannins are underripe, but add a good framework that will enhance the profile going forward. Leave this for at least another 12 months.
I reduced my rating to 92 pts. Day 2 is not as good as day 1.

This was one of the featured bottles at Bob’s tonight, and a really nice value at $99 off a restaurant list. Obviously young, it benefitted from the decant we gave it as it needed more time than the Chappellet. This is more old school/traditional style with the cherry tobacco, bay leaf and underripe blackberry notes on the nose, with a streak of black cherry & crushed rock on the finish. Hold or give it a lengthy decant.
