Jean Foillard
Côte du Py Morgon Gamay
Effortless. So lithe and fine but with awesome power and vitality. Delicious. Evolves and unfolds in the glass. Great wine. 👍🏽🍷❤️

Aug 13th, 2023🚨WINE HACK🚨 If you 1) own a sodastream, but no expensive wine gadgets 2) have a wine which needs to come off sediment but you don’t want to expose to oxygen [eg low/no so2 gamay], try decanting the wine carefully into a clean empty bottle pre-flooded with a few gentle pumps of co2 from your sodastream. Co2 is heavier than air. This works and I swear by it!
The Foillard was beautiful. Licorice, black raspberries, purity and poise that reminds me why I fell in love with Beaujolais in the first place, and affirms what has been an oft-times rocky love affair ever since.

Very carbonic nose. Red cherries, cranberry, mulberry bog, spices, some earth and mineral. Delicate and nuanced. Expansive and deep. Great nose. Classic Foillard CDP. Palate is focused like a laser. Juicy, complex, fresh and structured. As far as carbonic bojo goes this is hard to beat. A baby now but so balanced, complete, complex and classic. Terrific.

Oct 25th, 2020Telltale (but under control) barnyard funk livens the tangy red fruit and crushed granite on the nose. Cleaner in the mouth, with great intensity but very lively acid balance. Lip-smackingly good.

Sep 22nd, 2020Vicious attack of VA that falls away after 15 minutes. Unveiled, is fresh & punchy black & red berries. Major fruit depth boomerangs from tart to ripe, with balanced VA that lifts its secondary notes. Lovely Cote du Py indeed from 2011

Oct 30th, 2017Typical bojo raspberries, boysenberry, tomato-y iodine quality. There’s more structure here compared w/the rest of the gang.

Muddled, brambly fruit, spices, wilted flowers, animal and savory. Structured and with some rustic grip, which I liked.
