Todos Ballard Canyon Red Bordeaux Blend
Impressive fruit, lots of leather, cigar box and herbs. Bitter tannins on the back end, but a very solid effort.

Oct 25th, 2017This is just a killer Syrah blend. It’s really good as a pop and pour, but explodes with even just 30mins of air. It’s ripe, savory, juicy and smoky all at once. Fresh squeezed blackberries, raspberry pie, cherry pipe tobacco and grilled plum dominate the nose. Not as heavy or dense as expected on the palate, showing a bit of lift with some bacon fat, graphite, and even some more delicate notes of potpourri. At around $50/bottle, this is drinking above that price point right now.

Oct 19th, 2016I am starting to lose patience with Jonata. Either I open one of their other bottlings and it seems way too early, or I open more of an entry-level wine and don’t enjoy it. I’m not sure if I am a fan of this style of blend. Mostly Syrah with a good portion of Sangiovese, along with 4 other varietals. Disjointed and confused, almost a bit sour. I like to think of wines as shapes when describing mouthfeel, and I am not lying when I say that about halfway through the mid palate this one turns downwards and creates a :-(

Aug 1st, 2020Very nice. Big Syrah from Santa Barbara county. Raspberry and cherry pie with some earth and spice. Very well balanced for the high alcohol and extracted fruit.
