Kanonkop Estate
Paul Sauer Cabernet Sauvignon Blend
The nose reveals ripe, lush, floral, baking spice laced fruits. Blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, black plum, cherries and strawberries. Beautifully layered baking spices; caramel, mocha & dark chocolate. Dark, rich soils, dry crushed rocks, black licorice, black cherry cola, steeped fruit tea and fragrant, red, blue and dark florals.
Beautiful full body with powdery, cocoa, dry, meaty, sticky tannins. Really nice, structure, tension, length and balance. Drink now or hold another 5-7 years. Beautifully layered baking spices, caramel, mocha & dark chocolate. The finish, rich, lush, elegant, balanced and delicious. It’s persists endlessly.

A left bank Bordeaux style wine from South Africa. Fabulous! Napa valley style bold fruit with great finish. I detected distinct prune, cherry, and currants. While Tammy said I was full of it because she said it was figs!! And should pour her glass fuller than mine.......😳

Jan 28th, 2017Surprisingly open and ready, rich plum notes with cigar box and spicy tones, plush with long finish. One if the reference Cabernet blends from Stellenbosch.

Jan 21st, 2017alright.
south african bordeaux blend with loads of shiraz attitude (eucalyptus and menthol and spices!), some blossoms and wood.
mouth feeling isn't too funky but vegetal, drying out and aloof: saddle leather and cold black tea.
