Koutsoyiannopoulos
Santorini White Blend
Surprised its richness and weight on the palate. Considerably oily, driven by phenolics of green almond, olive, and wax. Subtle nose, lemon, a touch of fennel, petrol. Certainly saline. Seems to have considerable lees integration. Curious on the blend because the acidity seems a touch soft for an Assyrtiko dominant wine.

Feb 10th, 2020Sad to say this because it’s not exactly an overly hyped region, but I’ve been repeatedly disappointed with Greek island/Santorini whites recently. This one has fine mineral, citrus and white flower aromas but then it just sits dead on the palate. So many taste of commercial yeast and an “international” winemaking style lacking vibrancy.

Sep 9th, 2016So delicate when first opened, grass, pastel gauze. Fennel with herbal oval-shapes later. Mild bitterness, dominated by acid and glycerine. Pedal-steel mouthfeel.

May 12th, 2020Had this as part of a flight at Heritage Wines in Beverly Hills. Not a great candidate for an everyday, easy-drinking wine but don’t be put off by the medicinal smell. It has a touch of salinity and a welcoming mineral finish.

Jun 9th, 2019Quite a nice and interesting assyrtiko dominated wine from Greece. Boulud Sud has really stepped their wine by the glass program, any wine geek would be happy. This was very textured, resin-y even, with good ripe white fruit and good acid on the finish.
