Brut Champagne Blend
Tasting group meet up with many of the regulars not able to attend . I knew the organizer invited someone whom we had not tasted with in about 15 years . He certainly made an entrance bringing this, in magnum no less. When poured it showed a fine mousse but it faded quickly. A very broad nose that hinted of some age. In the mouth it was like a sports car traveling a highway. Almond , brioche and some oxidative notes sped thru my mouth. The flavors accelerated only to linger similar to when you take your foot off the accelerator. Coasted effortlessly with no need to step on the brakes

Apr 4th, 2024A lovely nose of biscuit, lemon curd, šalinity. It’s in great shape. The palate is extraordinary- a sweetness at the edges, soft minerality, loads of complexity and a long, fresh finish. A superb bottle and an extraordinary wine.

Mar 31st, 2022A little ‘pffst’ as it opens. This is past the vigorous stage. A lovely gold color with hints of amber. On the nose some brioche, caramel, dried apricots. On the palate some hazelnut and a low hum of salinity. This is certainly mature with mid fizz level and some really lovely deep flavors. Long and complex. Drinking beautifully if you like the mature style.... with some time in glass there’s more minerality coming through and a distinct taste of oyster shells. Delicious

Mar 11th, 2020A wonderfully inviting nose with hints of peaches, apricot, an underlying steeliness. The palate is heartbreaking- lush secondary notes but a bracing salinity and drive. In amazing shape and still bristling with life. Delicate yet powerful and hauntingly complex. Wonderful.

Oct 21st, 20181988 vintage. Medium golden hue. Fresh and primary nose - no oxidation. With air, the fruit becomes more lemon vanilla . On the palate, incredible balance - perfection itself if a little too perfect. Great length. A perfect ‘88. Stunning. Drink now until 2030+

Mar 6th, 2018Built more like a great Burgundy than Champagne. Toasty ,nutty ,spicy ,with ripe apple and the excellent acidity of the vintage, finishes with minerals and tons of dry extract . A great bottle!

Dec 24th, 2017Wonderful thought-provoking bottle. Golden and unctuous. Highly perfumed and flavored. Dried apricots, lemon/lime oils, a lot of nuttiness. Minerals and earth sneak in there with touches of honeycomb. Bright finishing zing and a two minute finish. There is a lot of nuance as well under the big flavors.
