Lime, lemon, limestone, salinity. Lovely oily fruit and great acidity. Very good and long.

Oct 8th, 2021A wonderful open nose. Composed lean lemon with a steely backbone, chalk. This is young but so splendid and dazzling now. I should wait, but this is spectacular now. All that flinty sharp structure but amazing fruit

Jul 28th, 2019As the famous quote goes...“I could not live without Champagne. In victory I deserve it, in defeat I need it.” I can relate to that quote more than I’d like to. This time last year, we were in defeat, grieving the loss of our first born who passed away shortly after birth. Fast forward a year, and this bottle was opened at the hospital this weekend after the birth of my wife and I’s daughter. We are able to celebrate this victory with more joy knowing everyone is healthy, and can’t wait to pop many more bottles at all future birthdays and life events!
Based on the ID, this bottle belongs to the 164éme edition, so the base of this wine is 2008 (youngest) with Reserve going back to 1990 (oldest). From half bottle. Sweet golden apple, honeycomb, brioche and smoked marshmallows aromatics. Great acidity and structure as expected...toffee, caramelized nougat, “oxidative” like sherry/nutty notes, but very bright. Not as dark or rich as previous Grande Cuvee offerings, but it works well here. Lingering finish that shows all the glorious layers Krug can offer. Splendid.

Really bright and crystalline. Lifted lemon and slate. Tight with acidity fine and high wire tension. Lovely stuff. Young.

Jun 23rd, 2019Very bright and lifted and mineral. Great definition and real depth lurking beneath. A fine mousse with electric tension and acidity. Tightly wound but all in place. Great stuff. 2008 base.
