1979 Krug. Medium golden hue. Nose is peachy, toffee, slight hint of sherry that blows off fairly quickly into an almost floral bouquet. Intoxicating. The mouthfeel is wonderful - acidity is still roaring but not overpoweringly sour like the 1990 which I found unbalanced in comparison. Deep concentration of flavour - slight nuttiness with air. The finish is mind blowing - a good two minutes and powerful. For me the finish and character of the wine edges the too perfect 1988. One of the greatest champagnes I have had. A legend with still a good amount of time left. Drink now until 2035.
