Poured into a decanter about three hours prior to dinner. The 2012 pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with light staining of the tears and no obvious signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with heavy notes of Morello cherry, exotic spices, bergamot, black tea, red flowers, cola nut and stony earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. This is a remarkable 2012 Riserva that hides its 15% alcohol about as good as any I have encountered. Full of character and full of life. My last bottle, but I hope to encounter this beauty again at some point in the future. Drink now through 2032.

Popped and poured; consumed over two days. Though it was still very good on Day 2, it was best on Day 1 and singing right out the gate. The the 2012 “Gemini” pours a deep garnet with a slightly brownish rim. Medium+ viscosity with very light staining of the tears. The wine is intense and beautifully perfumed, with perfectly ripened red fruits, cherry cobbler, dark plums, black tea, bergamot, sandalwood, and dry dusty earth. It sort of reminded me of a spiked Christmas fruitcake. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins; the fine and dusty type. Medium+ acid. A mix of perfectly ripened and slightly wizened cherries, dried green herbs, crushed gravel, black tea, black licorice, and spices. An incredibly compelling package that handles its weight (a hefty 15% abv) so well. These are drinking so well now and since it came across slightly more advanced on Day 2, I would drink these over the next 5 years.

Blackberry and plumb, oaky with a dusting of clay. Save for a date night feature.

Concentrated. Black fruits. More than one hour decanting is better. Just 9 years is not same as 2004 I tasted before, but this is on the same direction and even now, it can be enjoyable. 2012 @2850, xiaduo - pane e vino, 211016-211118

Still a bit tight even 10 years on. Probably could age another 10 at least. The nose was intoxicating with black cherry, anise, and leather. A full-bodied wine, the chewy tannins made for a long finish.
