Mascalisi Nerello Mascalese-Frappato Blend
lots of big, bold structure, but i’m not sure the blend works for me. i love Nerello for its ashy, mineral qualities and Frappato for its bright, rose, red fruit qualities. here they mash up into a wine i find rather extracted and not expressive of Sicilian terroir.

Mar 1st, 2018Slightly reductive nose. Once decanted, opens up into a beautiful sour macerated cherry with a sandy, earthiness and a very slight fresh oiled leather. Palate matches the nose beautifully in the un-adulterated sexiness. Worth every penny!

Dec 31st, 2016Great spice, density and complexity. Tastes closer to cool climate Rhone than nerello.
