Fruit has really come together. Nice peppery mid palate with black and blue fruit. Still some heat but not like when it was younger. Just goes to show you that these wines perform well with 5+ years of bottle age

A terrific offering from Matt Trevisan, the 2010 Problem Child is a blend of zinfandel (77%), syrah (16%), and mourvedre (7%) and is an example of what non-traditional blends can achieve in Paso Robles. Contrary to conventional thinking about zins, the addition of syrah and mourvedre make this wine improve with some age. Intense dark berry notes on the nose, this wine has complexity that is hard to get from zin on its own. One of the better incarnations of this wine that I've had, this is terrific. One bit of advice: serve it a couple of degrees below cellar temp to bring it in to balance.
