Quite surprised by the deliciousness and development from a producer that doesn't often wow me. Goes well beyond the classic yet boring profile I was expecting and becomes a smoky, meaty, briney, herbal wonder. One of the best and most complete St. Joseph I've had in a long time.

Out of a magnum which kept this tasting young. Straight after opening plummy and a bit of a smoke monster but after 3-4 hours this gave way to luxurious complexity. A mouth watering wine that pairs brilliantly with game. Loved it!

There's something about this appellation that resonates deeply with me, and there's no better producer than Chapoutier. The man's a freakish genius of the vine.
