Crozes-Hermitage Syrah

Low yields in Northern Rhône 2013, but the quality of the fruit is prevalent here. Structured and well-integrated fine grained tannins at the five year mark. The nose explodes out of the glass with finesse and doused complexities. Definitive Syrah nuances of black raspberries, black plums, black olives, fresh cut violets, cracked black pepper, Indian spices, grilled and smoked meats, and stone dust. Light weight but packs a continuous release of flavors. Nose and palate changes from fruit to floral to spicy to meaty. As you move to different areas and rooms the wine changes. The more air it gets, the more meat starts hanging out. Complex indeed for a $20 bottle. Great showing.

A little hot when opened. With that said, it did open up a bit after an hour. Lacking big fruits and dominated by spice and pepper throughout. A little grilled meat on the nose. Nice overall 👍🏼 and I look forward to seeing how the next two bottles evolve over the next 3-7 years.

A delicious Crozes-Hermitage for a solid price point, as usual. Love the nose on this wine, like freshly laid asphalt on a hot summer day with tar, crushed black pepper, baking spice, and ripe red fruits. The palate is simple yet delightful with cherries, spices, and dust.

Laden with brettanomyces. Dirty and undrinkable. One glass and in the trash!

Quite tannic, some smoke, not much fruit.

Crozes-Hermitage for $20? From Jaboulet/Perrin? Sign me up. But what does it taste like? Well, a $20 Crozes-Hermitage, that's what. No surprises here, fantastic savory N. Rhône nose, violets, leather, sandalwood, dark fruit and acidity. A little sweeter than expected. Medium finish. Drink over the next five years.

Black pepper and figs.

Nose of black pepper, leather, and olive with notes that remind me of campfire and blackberries. Balance of savory and fruity on the palate. Decant. Varietally correct and a great value for the region.
