The weekend has started and I have opened the 2015 Marqués de Murrieta Finca Ygay Reserva Rioja. A blend of 80% Tempranillo, 12% Graciano, 6% Mazuelo and 2% Garnacha.
On the nose this is a beautifully complex aroma with black cherry, blackberry, plum, licorice, perfumed notes, violets, spice, vanilla, some oak and earthiness.
O the palate is black cherry, blackberry, plum, star anise, clove, spice, oak, vanilla and earth.
This wine is full bodied silky mouthfeel with high acidity and medium + fine integrated tannins that move wonderfully into a long dark fruit licorice finish. Ruby with aromas of ripe red fruit with floral and spice notes. A traditional Rioja blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Graciano. On the palate layers of fresh ripe berry flavors with spicy and smoky note with new oak wrapped in silky tannins, long finish ending with a mineral character, well balanced, great value!
