Massal 1945 Family Vineyards
Clos de Luz Cabernet Sauvignon
Last bottle of this. It has steadily transformed into something amazing. I would have loved to have inserted this in to a tasting of 2009 classified growth Bordeaux. Color is showing some maturity. Nose is open and complex, with cedar, sandstoney gravel, roasted peanut, and lovely blackcurrant. Soft in the mouth, with concentrated flavors but in a balanced frame. Ripe fruit, acids, and tannins in balance. So good.

Feb 5th, 2024I last had this a few years ago and it’s much better now. Nose has green olive, cassis, cedar, crushed rock. Concentrated but with resolved tannins and long, savory flavors and really nice balance. Showing my age here, but this Chilean red reminds me of what Napa Cabs from cooler vintages in the old days used to taste like 1977 for example). Surprisingly good.
