Masseto
Toscana Merlot
Against all my principles. I think Italians should have Italian grapes. But, this is truly outstanding, the smoothness of mature merlot and still the color has barely faded after 17 years. My one and only bottle.

Feb 27th, 20141.5 hour decant(decent fine/cloudy sediment). A majestic dark ruby red color with a little bricking. On the nose: beautiful notes of plum, anise, smoke, vanilla, sandlewood, and a touch of tobacco. Taste: smooth, creamy, rich wine with a little black cherry, currants, mocha, spice, balsamic, toasty oak, and a long plumy graphite dry finish. YUM! Gonna be a wonderful Saturday night.
