Mastroberardino
Radici Taurasi Aglianico
Established in the 1750s by winemaker Pietro di Mastro Berardino. Ruby with complex aromas of berry fruit, spice, floral and oak. On the palate rich fruit flavors of cherry and black raspberry with sweet spice, full oak and slight herb notes. Big grippy tannins, savory, lingering ending with a lot of oak but should soften with time. Very nice!

Jan 14th, 2019Dark & opaque in colour, with an invitiny aromatic nose full of cloves, anise, black pepper & cedar wood, backed by some black cherry & dark plum. But there’s also some crushed rock and a earthy note. And a gamey whiff. This is quite complex.
On the palate a beautiful interplay between firm, grippy yet juicy tannins and vibrant acidity. The fruit is hidden somewhere in the back, with some dark cherry and accents of orange peel.
This has precision, depth and character. And at 9y of age, is slowly coming to its drinking window. Need to get more!

Nov 24th, 2017Sharp berry. Tight for a 2012. Higher tannins than expected. Nice dry finish. Will continue to age nicely for years. Nice local wine.
