I can appreciate the effort but earlier picked Zin lacks a few things that I think make a red Zinfandel most enjoyable. It might be early to drink this on my part (and I have a slight sensitivity to tannin right now with a lower sinus infection), but the tannin was a little raw imo. Good acidity and fresh fruit, just out of balance on the finish with the gnarly, chewy, dry tannin. ๐บ๐ธ๐ฆ๐ท

Dec 5th, 2021Had two bottles of this. One I drank too soon, this was number two. Unbelievable. Made me wish I had waited longer on both. Amazing bramble and spice, in my opinion more structure and weight on the second pass, but such a beautiful synergy of components. Waiting on Matthiasson reds should be mandate, another example of truly remarkable classically styled wine.
