Mushrooms, moss, green stuff, also strawberry husks and stems. Drinking for the Annabel Lee, which is sadly closing. Mr.Poe is not pleased.

Dec 15th, 2016Very good wine for the price! It tastes like what a Napa Cab should taste like: bold oak, fruity, and a big style that can stand up to what I am cooking which is ribeye. Honestly the 2013 and 2012 vintages were better (and cheaper), however I think I should have drunk this in a year to allow everything to come together more. It drinks more like a $25+ wine so still a good bargain! Tasting notes below.
Clear, Medium ruby/purplish color, med+ body, med + alcohol. On the nose it is clean, med+ aromas of vanilla, clove, currant, plum and vegetal (green olive?) And hint of pepper. It Is developing, so still a bit young.
On the palate baking spice from oak (nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, clove), black currant, plum, and a hint of bell green pepper. Tannins are well integrated but still grippy. it is a well balance wine.
