Full bodied, quasi purple. Oily dense. Initial blackberries, raspberries and some cassis on the nose. Also got some oak and tobacco. The high alcohol made it smell like a raspberry cough drop at times. On the palate it was rounded fruit with pleasant medium high tannins. The finish was lingering and reminiscent of the woody/fruit combo. Absolutely solid and delicious. Worth the high price tag.
