Niepoort (Vinhos) S.A.
Coche Branco Douro Rabigato Blend
Douro, Portugal
2011.
First let me say that I'm a big fan of the Niepoort still wines. That said, I've always been put off by the name of this cuvee "Coche". It requires a certain level of hubris to compare your wine to one of the great white Burg houses.
It also sets it up to underwhelm the drinker, if they've ever enjoyed Coche Dury.
It's solid, and the oak treatment has some Coche-like characteristics, but it's not even in the same ball park.

I enjoyed this as much as the Coche-Dury. Excellent wine with minerality, some butteriness, plenty of oak — at Casa de Cha da Boa Nova
